The Role of National Academies in Promoting Urban Health
Jointly  we want to develop and implement solutions for the challenges of urban health.

Over 4.4 billion people worldwide live in urban areas: The urban population is expected to grow to 6.7 billion by 2050, accounting for 70 per cent of the world's population. The speed and scale of urbanisation pose social and environmental challenges that will have a profound impact on health and well-being, particularly for socially and economically disadvantaged citizens. The complexity of urban life makes the holistic promotion of urban health difficult. It is therefore crucial to develop strategies together with science, business and politics that take into account the different needs of city dwellers in terms of well-being and health. The Urban Health project focusses on the comprehensive implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and aims to understand urban health holistically.
